Reports To: Director of Operations/Assistant Director of Operations

Status: Exempt/Salary

Supervises: Production Employees

General Description: The Production Supervisor's primary responsibilities are to lead a team to ensure production goals for given shift are accomplished, ensure a safe work environment, and ensure cheese/whey is produced following safe quality food manufacturing practices. This role fosters an environment of trust and open communication and develops talent for the future of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports in alignment with business objectives and required staff development.

Evaluate and appraise employees' performance and follow-up with proper documentation including the 120-performance day review and stay interviews.

Administer and document disciplinary procedures, both verbal and written, when necessary.

Maintains communication between all the departments within the facilities.

Plan, assign and direct the work of the team for the achievement of operational goals and objectives.

Assist in the development and implementation of processes and policies related to production.

Support and initiate change in the production to promote continuous improvement. Use P&L results and key performance indicators to improve plant performance and profitability.

Provide ongoing communication of depts. performance toward its key measures to senior management.

Work with human resources, safety and quality leadership to ensure that the plant is operating in compliance with customer and government regulations. (USDA, State, FDA, OSHA, HACCP, SQF)

Able to become certified and a strong leader of the HACCP and SQF programs. Must obtain all certifications and licenses as they become required.

Responsible for compliance with the pure food act, safety, and quality of the wholesome product produced and distributed.

In Quality Assurances absence, responsible for the SQF internal auditor / practitioner, to monitor and update food safety documents as needed and to understand and follow proper recall procedures as per company policies.

Requirements

Required (Basic) Education / Experience/ Competencies and Other Skills:

Four-year degree in Manufacturing/Food Science/Ag Business or a High School Diploma/GED and 2-4 years of previous supervisory experience, particularly in a food manufacturing setting

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Self-motivated and driven - strive to deliver great results and continuous improvement.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

A passionate and positive can-do attitude, a willingness to learn, to teach, to be a change agent within the company.

Physical Demands:

Ability to operate normal office equipment.

Must hold a valid Driver's License

Extensive use of computers

Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen as well as a general background check.

Ability to move and lift up to 50lbs.

Work Environment / Environment Condition:

Dairy Plant environment

Working hours will vary depending on need.

Business travel as needed.
