Are you looking to join a small and caring team? Desai Eye Care is seeking a new Checkout Clerk to join our growing ophthalmology practice in Lafayette, LA. We are looking for a smart, energetic individual with long-term potential!
You will be responsible for answering phones, the checkout process, scheduling appointments, and collecting deductibles, and copays.
Responsibilities:
Answer phones, schedule appointments
Insurance verification
Determine deductibles, copays & collect them
Serve and protect the clinic by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
Assist in surgical scheduling, referral management
Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent manner using these communication skills; be an active listener, have good phone manners, screen calls, use tact, ask questions, and maintain confidentiality
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of insurance
Knowledge of patient accounts
CPC
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and communication skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people
Professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to work cooperatively with others including but not limited to the physician and other employees
Computer skills
Ability to work with an Electronic Medical Records system and Practice Management System
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively
Effective time-management
Basic Word and Excel program knowledge
Telephone etiquette
Loyalty
Strong ability to work with others
