The Facility Operations department exists to serve students, faculty and staff by maintaining an environment conducive to learning and efficient operations. Our department offers building custodial services, building maintenance services, construction projects, grounds and landscape maintenance, and mail services.

*Job Summary*
Department-Specific Responsibilities
* Assists with maintaining and preserving beautiful and sustainable campus grounds in a safe and orderly manner.
* Mows, trims, and edges grass.
* Rakes and collects leaves.
* Seeds, fertilizes, plants, prunes, weeds, mulches and waters trees, shrubs and flowers.
* Shovels snow and spreads salt, cinders and sand.
* Operates grounds equipment.
* Assists with proper maintenance of tree and shrub care, landscape beds, bioswales, ponds, parking lots, storm water drains, walking paths, trails, and other campus venues.
* Assists with event set-ups and tear down.
* Mows grass.
* Trims, edges, and clears walkways.
* Pond and storm waterway maintenance.
* Maintains parking lots, roadways, walkways, paths, walking trails, athletic courts and fields, outdoor seating/furniture, and road signs.
* Collects trash and debris.
* Removes branches, leaves, and weeds.
* Seals coat, stripes, paints, and completes minor repairs to paved areas and surfaces.
* Operates, maintains, and assists with upkeep of grounds equipment (tractors, mowers, seeders, sprayers, chainsaws, weed eaters, blowers and pruning tools.) Cleans, maintains, and updates equipment.
* Sets up and removes of tables/chairs/furniture, staging platforms, podiums, banners, clean-up, etc.
* Assists with special projects such as: painting, flooring removal/installation, etc.
* Performs clean-up responsibilities.
* Moves and transports furniture, equipment, and other campus supplies.
* Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

* Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Outlook and Word
* Proven orientation toward quality service
* Experience with some of the following equipment: sprayer, riding and walk behind mowers, tractor, chainsaw, backhoe, power seeder, clippers, trencher, bush hog, pruning tools, spreader, truck with snow blade and salt spreader, forklift, water pumps, weed eater, blower, hand tools, garden tools, shovel, rack, pick, posthole digger, etc.
*Working Conditions / Demands*
This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. This position requires the Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
