Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training, and education.The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Manager, Accounts Payable for the Accounting Department. In this position you will manage, and coordinate activities required to ensure an accurate accounts payable system for the Accounting department. Develops and recommends policies and procedures to govern the payment of company bills to the advantage of the organization in terms of cash flow and discounts. Plans, schedules, and directs the work of the Accounts Payable team. To manage and coordinate activities required to ensure an accurate accounts payable system for the Accounting department. Plans, schedules, and directs the work of the Accounts Payable team.You will be responsible for:Managing the Accounts Payable team of the Accounting department ensuring that staff achieve their goals, including providing staff with guidance and advice, training, performance management, leadership development, and career development;Ensuring the timely processing of invoices, including distributing work evenly among Accounts Payable staff. Overseeing maintenance of the Accounts Payable ledger;Overseeing employee expense reports reimbursement process via Concur. (added role upon fully onboarding);Reviewing and approving all purchase orders for the organization and its affiliates;Training purchasers, purchase order approvers, and invoice approvers on the use of the Intacct accounting system purchase model including creating purchase orders and approving vendor bills and purchase orders;Managing the month-end closing process, including reviewing and approving reconciliations and journal entries from the Senior Accountant;Establishing policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of the Accounts Payable department;Reviewing all domestic and international payments processed by the Accounts Payable team on a weekly basis;Assisting with annual financial audits, reviewing information retrieved by Accounts Payable staff for accuracy and submitting to auditors;Responding to internal and external inquiries concerning Accounts Payable;Performing other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements:Bachelor s degree in accounting or another related field, or equivalent work experience, required.A minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounts payable or another related field required.Supervisory/management experience preferred.Current CPA, CMA, or other accounting license preferred.Excellent math skills.Advanced knowledge of accounting procedures.Proficiency with modern accounting software preferred.Ability to lead and guide staff to meet department and organizational goals. Strong knowledge of staff management practices. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff.Ability to set a positive tone for employees during their day.Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Superb customer service focus mindset.Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes.Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
