Position Overview

Copyeditor is responsible for copyediting and proofreading all Health Monitor content, according to house, AP, Chicago Manual and AMA style, depending on publication. Will also carry out Quality Assurance duties.

Essential Job Functions

Proofreads content for grammatical, spelling, punctuation, typographical, style and composition errors.

Ensures consistent style and formatting in accordance with our style guides.

Reviews headings, captions, pagination, copyright, reference numbers and other metadata for accuracy and consistency.

Reviews tables of contents, indices and other reference materials for accuracy and formatting.

Performs final proof; ensures revisions are incorporated as intended.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years copyediting experience, with background in healthcare/medical editing a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and superlative written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of grammar, spelling, and usage.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and/or related content management software.
  • Bachelors degree in English, Journalism/Communications or related field required.
  • Previous related experience or demonstration of skills required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. Employee frequently uses computer keyboard, regularly travels both short and long distances via walking within the work site. The employee must regularly lift and/or move a laptop computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently.
