Director OF Operations


Job Details

A community bank is seeking a Director of Operations that will sit onsite in either Columbus or Marion Ohio. This organization consists of 50-60 employees across 2 locations, one in Columbus and one in Marion Ohio. The Director of Operations will oversee a team of 5 staff to ensure that the needs of the bank and their customers are effectively achieved. The Director of Operations will also ensure that the bank meets all regulatory and legal requirements applicable to his or her department.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Ensure that customers (both internal and external) receive the highest work priority and that superior customer service is provided in executing customer transactions, follow-up, and communications.

* Ensure that the Operations Department is leveraging all means necessary to run in the most efficient manner possible.

* Ensure that Department Managers are effectively overseeing staff and following bank policies and procedures.

* Direct applicable departments to achieve goals set forth in the Bank's Strategic Plan

* Participate in various bank committees as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors

* Oversee audit schedule with guidance from the Audit Committee

* Lead the bank during examinations from the ODFI, FDIC, and internal or external audits from a hired third party.

* Oversee all insurance programs for the bank.

* Review loan documentation for accuracy and correctness prior to and after closing of the loan.

* Ensure that staff has access to ongoing training as it pertains to their job function.

* Perform employee reviews as deemed necessary by the HR Department

* Coordinate and effectively communicate with staff on projects or changes within the bank

* Direct the bank's secondary market loan program to ensure that reports, audit requests, and any additional requirements are completed in a timely manner.

* Ensure accurate deposit/loan system entries, controls, ongoing customer account maintenance, effective research of customer account problems and requests.

* Minimize risk to the bank through wire approval, check signing, and expense approval processes.


Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience working in the banking industry, specifically around banking operations including lending, deposits, and compliance.

o Well rounded understanding of the variety of operations a bank performs

2+ years of experience managing and directing the work of a team.

Experience facilitating the implementation of new software systems or processes of working

Strong communication skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
