No organization will give you the clinical variety, the support, or the opportunities for professional growth that you ll enjoy as a member of our team.The Sr. Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer is a key executive on the UMMS Senior Leadership Team which is responsible to provide strategic vision, leadership, direction and operational effectiveness on behalf of the Medical System. This position works hand in hand with the executive management team(s) in planning and executing initiatives both across the Medical System and at a local hospital level. This position has accountability for multiple operational areas as well as overall Medical System outcomes within areas of responsibility.Engaged to facilitate, operate, and or establish solutions for integrated services from time to time. This may include hospital integration or departmental and service line integration.This position will maintain a comprehensive and long-range system view of the Medical System s strategic plan, which constantly seeks to identify and take advantage of new opportunities to improve the health and wellness of patients served by the system. This position works closely with the system leadership team, local leaders to lead implementation of contemporary solutions in support of the mission of the Medical System.

Duties & Responsibilities:Operational: The CAO has executive oversight and accountability for a number of operational areas supporting the Medical System. These areas include, but may not be limited to; UMMS Logistics Operations Center, Information Services and Technology, Clinical Informatics, Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing, Corporate Operations, Data and Analytics, Innovation Center, Clinical Engineering, UMMS Real Estate Construction and Facilities, Emergency Preparedness, Corporate Operations for Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Imaging and others areas as directed by the UMMS President and CEO.Is an effective and collaborative member of the Executive Team providing leadership to UMMS.Works with the UMMS Board as needed with respect to strategic initiatives for areas of responsibilityEngaged to facilitate, operate, and or establish solutions for integrated services from time to time. This may include hospital integration or departmental and service line integration.Align areas of responsibility objectives and programs to enterprise objectives and strategies and define related metrics based on business needs of the Medical System.Provides leadership and strategic direction and oversight for the successful development, implementation, and effectiveness of areas of accountability to include overall performance priorities ads established by the Medical System.Creates a vision and roadmap for areas of accountability.Works closely with all senior executives to understand the organization and how to best position the organization for future challenges and supports their goals and the goals of the organization. Communicates that vision to all members of the organization in a manner that is clear and transparent.Establish new sources of non-rate regulated income and implement concepts to operations.Monitors the healthcare delivery environment in order to anticipate any impact on areas of responsibility and or to the organization at-large.Organize, lead and facilitate opportunities associated with improvement of the organization s overall performance.Champion the Medical System s Innovation Office (iHarbor) to include product development, venture investments, and overall prioritization development.Provide appropriate oversight in the development of policies and procedures to ensure Medical System and regulatory compliance is attained.Champion the Medical System s Mission and Values including the ongoing journey of becoming a High Reliability Organization.Initiate, facilitate and collaborate with appropriate vendors for services in areas of responsibility, while protecting the mission of the organization .Develop cooperative relationships with local, regional and national peer levels both inside and outside the health care industry.Encourage and emphasizes an effective project management approach and skills developmentEstablishes mechanisms to assess and evaluate areas of accountability. Works with System leaders to establish organization metrics used to create transparency and insight to address opportunities for improvement.Provide oversight to related budgets, vendor contracts, staffing needs or issues, policies and procedures and assure the effective utilization of physical and financial resources.Establishes mechanisms for engaging organization leadership in major initiatives while keeping them apprised of the status of all current and planned activities.Maintains an organizational structure for the UMMS areas of responsibility and recruits the necessary team to support the current and future needs of the Medical System.Communicate extensively throughout the organization. Clearly articulate issues and remedies to executives, clinicians and other constituents. Help the organization stay the course on any initiative.Motivates and fosters re-engineering of business practices with a focus on change management.Builds and supports effective, productive and action oriented multidisciplinary teams that support organization initiatives.Develops and supports programs that encourage and facilitate understanding, enthusiasm and effective utilization of data and analytics.Establish and implement short and long term strategic and tactical goal, objectives, polices, and operating procedures.Serve on planning, policy making, and Board committees as required.Provide transformational leadership for direct reports, which include all system and hospital leaders, to assure effective integration, and standardization.Develop and implement metrics to measure performance and progress towards strategic goals, ensuring that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results.Proven leadership track record overseeing transformational changes from innovation through implementation while working collaboratively across a diverse stakeholder population to create sustained value.Ability to develop others and achieve results through effective delegation.Proven strategic and business acumen pertaining to pharmacy practice, including financial skills with experience successfully managing a large budget.Demonstrated success leading projects and initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, safety and service levels in a complex environment.Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision..Ability to recruit and retain highly skilled professional staff.Display an entrepreneurial mindset, with clarity of vision and a forward-thinking approach.Effective collaboration and relationship building at all levels of the organization in an environment where success is achieved through influence and relationships.Ability to develop high-value team and implement high-value programs through ensuring engagement of all key stakeholders.Strong interpersonal and team dynamic skills.
