MicroHealth is looking for a skilled and experienced Technical Writer to support our client in Vienna, VA.
This is a remote position with potential travel to client sites in Rockville, MD, and Albuquerque, NM.
The Technical Writer will be required to provide support within a data driven, fast-pace federal agency environment, write and/or edit complex, technical information, and documents, including standard operating procedures, business use cases, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements. Technical Writer will work closely with the internal project team to interpret specifications, engineering drawings, and other data to ensure production of technical documentation that complies with stated requirements. Additionally, the technical writer will develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations. Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
The Technical Writer will be required to:
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation
- Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural, technical, and web site content information for technical and nontechnical users
- Build and maintain client aids such as how-tos, tutorials, user guides, and knowledge base content for client applications
- Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality
- Edit other content and documentation for consistency and continuously update content with current information
- Ability to manage multiple technical writing projects at any given time
- Ability to leverage project management skill set to include initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control and closeout
Requirements:- Bachelors degree or the equivalent in experience in English, Communication, Journalism, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Writing, Teaching, Curriculum Development or Scientific Publication
- 5-7 years of experience in technical writing
- Excellent, clear, clean, accessible writing and a keen eye for consistency and technical accuracy
- Strong communications skills, including written, verbal and presentation
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally
- Consult relevant information sources, including library of resources, technical and financial documents, and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee may lift or move objects up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
