Camp SOAR at Franklin YMCA- An 8 week program that runs from Monday, July 1st through Friday, August 23rd - offers an exciting variety of camp options to please every kind of camper at every age! With Arts, STEM, Sports-and-Games, Music, and Outdoor Ed for children entering Kindergarten through 9th grade!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Camp Soar is seeking a seasonal Arts-N-Crafts Specialist to provide energetic camp spirit and leadership throughout a fun summer experience! This role is responsible for executing our exciting camp curriculum focused in Arts-N-Crafts to engage campers in a diverse multi-disciplinary experience at camp - all packed with a ton of fun! We are seeking a well-rounded Arts-N-Crafts counselors to lead activities in painting, ceramics, jewelry making, tie-dye, and more. This position provides the opportunity to develop core skills related to communication, mentorship, problem solving, and people management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The specialists' primary responsibility is to execute an engaging experience of a specific discipline within Arts-N-Crafts. Campers will circulate throughout the day to engage in your lesson plans and activities for the day. Activities planned should be age appropriate for children kindergarten thru 10th grade. Working under the direction of the Camp Leadership Team, in this role, it is imperative to be able to make camp the best experience a child could ever dream of and will look back and remember for years to come.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with other counselors to lead a group of 15-30 children.
  • Working with other counselors to develop and execute fun and educational activities throughout the week.
  • The arts and crafts activities will be designed to meet the needs of each age group, providing a challenge for each child.
  • Create projects that align with any themes the camp may be running.
  • Lead basic instructional workshops in following areas: painting, ceramics, jewelry making, tie-dye, and more.
  • Partner with co-counselors to create a fun and safe environment for campers.
  • Will draw out the creative talents of each child in a non-judgmental setting.
  • Participating in all camp activities. Must be able and willing to be active, run around, get messy, and want to make the experience each day one to remember.

HOURS: *This role is a seasonal full time (40hrs per week) role. The ability to be flexible based on camp needs is required.*

Pre-Camp Trainings: June 3rd, 10th, and 17th

Camp Assignment: July 3rd - August 25th

Typical Weekly Schedule can be: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
