Description

Summary:

The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for the procurement of plants, containers, and materials for the company's lines of service. This position will select the highest quality plants and plant containers from nurseries and distributors, inspect them upon arrival, manage plant inventory, and communicate availability to stakeholders. They will also assist in maintaining plants while they are staged in the greenhouse, staging plants and containers for install, and other administrative tasks to support the ongoing Install and Maintenance Operations at the Company's Seattle Branch

Accountabilities

  • Procure plants and containers for the best quality and price
  • Inspect arriving plants and containers for quality
  • Communicate availability to internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor inventory
  • Optimize sale to install process efficiency


Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Procure plant material and source for the best quality and price.
  • Select special items, place orders for required plants for delivery or pickup and ensure all items are available for the scheduled installation date.
  • Receive deliveries to ensure all materials are accounted for.
  • Organize storage areas for optimal functioning; coordinate and perform maintenance of plants stored on site ensuring Sales Designers know what is available for use by properly labeling materials.
  • Oversee purchasing of equipment and supplies and communicating with company leadership about yard's needs.
  • Communicate and problem solve on all tasks.
  • Communicate/coordinate with Sales-Design on projects, related purchasing, and scheduling.
  • Operate a company vehicle as a driver.
  • Always maintain a clean vehicle, ensuring maintenance and Interior cleanliness.
  • Remove personal items from vehicles daily (lunchboxes, cell phones, garbage, etc.).
  • Adhere to Company maintenance inspection policy.
  • Report all accidents (regardless of nature and severity) immediately.
  • Ensure security of building and vehicles by coordinating with other staff as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Familiar with modern productivity software, including Microsoft Office, iPhones/iOS, and how to navigate modern web-based technology platforms.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels, displaying a pleasant and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to compare prices and weigh tradeoffs between quality and budget.
  • Ability to regularly drive in urban areas, proficient with parallel parking and navigating heavy traffic
  • Strong follow through, quick decision-making abilities and able to problem solve in a fast paced environment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2+ years of previous experience in horticulture industry-wholesale or retail nursery, landscape, or grower
  • Working knowledge of proper horticultural techniques, able to recognize general plant health and proper formof plant
  • Proficient knowledge of plant material types including Latin nomenclature


Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid Driver's license


Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent walking, talking, listening, squatting, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, grasping, pushing, pulling etc.
  • Specific vision abilities necessary include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus etc.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (rain, sun etc.) for extended periods of time and/or field environments performing outdoor work with moderate to occasional loud noise.
  • Must be able to lift to 75 pounds.
