Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose:

This remote position in the North Houston Region is required to perform technical work to install and maintain technology equipment, work-on projects, and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and technology hardware. Distributing new equipment and infrastructure of existing and new sites added to the district. The Senior Technical Operations Specialist will assist the Operational Services team with their years of experience working as a Senior Technical Operations Specialist.Education/Certification:A High School diploma or GED is requiredAssociate s or Bachelor s degree preferredCompTIA, Cisco or Microsoft certifications preferredGoogle IT Support Professional certification preferredExperience:5+ years of progressively responsible work experience IT Support Technician in a technical support environmentWork experience in basic networking, infrastructure cabling, help desk or support service environment preferred

Skill Requirements:Ability to assist with the completion of projects, issues and tasks assigned to the Senior Technical Operations Specialist.Knowledge of computer workstation setup.Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.Ability to install, maintain and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, modem and scanners.Ability to install and maintain network infrastructure, including hardware, data and voice support.Ability to diagnose and resolve computer hardware, software, and network problems.Ability to travel as required.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the districtInstall network cabling and network peripherals throughout the districtRelocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as neededInstall and configure software as neededAssist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipmentEquipment Repair and Maintenance:Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, terminals, and personal computersService equipment according to established preventive maintenance scheduleMaintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenanceMaintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and serviceTechnical Support:Analyze and resolve technology issues using logic and creativity, assisting in the development of procedures, and exhibiting a commitment to seeing the problem through to resolutionProcess technology requests using help desk software and ensure issues are resolved or escalated in a timely mannerRespond to questions and resolve problems for users in person, via telephone, and/or remote access; Assess end-user needs and provide training as neededWork cooperatively with end-users to detect and resolve hardware problemsCommunicate with District IS personnel and software/hardware vendors to resolve end-user problemsOther:Fostering a team environment with a focus on customer service while maintaining a professional approach regarding all district mattersBe adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and proceduresPerform R&D and remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology and keep abreast of innovative practicesAttain and keep current relevant technology certificationsPerform special projects, after-hours support and upgrades, and other duties as assignedTravel to campus locations for onsite support as requiredEquipment Used:Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations.Personal computers and peripherals, including scanners, routers, switches, wireless access points, modems and printersMental Demands:

This individual should be a self-motivated starter; perform tasks with little or no supervision; maintain a proactive attitude when establishing relationships among district personnel; and maintain emotional control under stress.Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Other physical demands include hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity, visual acuity, speech and hearing, repetitive motion, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, balancing, and driving to perform essential functions. On call 24/7 technical support will be required, as well as a valid driver s license and a good driving record.Primary Location
