Ammonia Refrigeration Service Technician


Job Details

We are hiring an Ammonia/Freon service technician for our office in Pasco, Washington. This is a full-time position with union wage/benefits package and a company provided vehicle, tools, and gas card.


Advanced Refrigeration Knowledge:

o Able to teach, explain, and break down the refrigeration process for industrial Ammonia, Freon, and CO2.

o Understand operating efficiency measures and live by them on a daily basis.

o Understands PermaColds procedure for emergency release of Refrigeration and correct response procedure. When to enter facility, whom to report to, and what your role is.

o Have a clear understanding of P&ID s.

Work within the industry standards regarding (PSM, OSHA, IIAR, RMP):

o Understand guidelines for Operational Safety (PSM, ASRAE, IIAR)

o OEM Recommended maintenance per component

o Understand the parameters around maximizing energy efficiency (ETO, RETA)

Able to teach, explain, and break down all electrical components within a refrigeration system. VFDs, Starters, variable speed motors.

o Understand programming of various operating systems. Specifically, but not limited to:

Logix, Quantum, Allen Bradley, GForce, KE2

Complete understanding of processes:

o Vibration Analysis: How to conduct reading, reading reports

o Oil Analysis: Correct way to sample, understanding reports

o Laser Alignment: Correct way to align motors and compressors

o Water Test: How and where to pull sample

o Ammonia Sensor Calibrations: How to work with controls to avoid false alarms

o Component Inspections: Understand why and how to conduct correctly

Safety

o Take an active role in safety for entire company. Be part of safety committee or interested in activities that support safety committee.

Certifications:

o Class 5: Carbon, Stainless, Aluminum, Structural, dis-similar metals

o Brazing: Copper, dis-similar metals

o LEB/LEA

o Current on Ammonia Awareness Training

o CPR/ First Aid Card

o OSHA30

Train Up

o Understand the individual needs of each Apprentice and new hire and work towards providing that training

o Communicate with Apprentices to guide them on their role within PermaCold.

Available

o You are expected to be available and included in the on-call rotation to assist with emergencies and after hour customer needs at all times

Customer Relations/Sales/Communication

o Able to accurately estimate follow up work on smaller projects (<30K)

o Clearly communicate with Dispatch on needs and work load

o Able to communicate clearly with customer on their system needs and future maintenance planning

o Be able to communicate with the customer to sell PermaCold on its values and knowledge. Give each a customer a reason to choose us
