Transportation Energy Consultant

**Location**: California (preferred); other locations may be considered

ICF is seeking a Transportation & Energy Consultant to lead and support projects related to emission reduction, scenario modeling, decarbonization strategies, electrification, alternative fuels, and advanced technologies in the transportation sector. Work may include analysis of strategies to reduce emissions from a variety of transportation sources, analysis of the costs and benefits of advanced vehicle technologies and alternative transportation fuels, development of policy and program recommendations to support accelerated deployment of zero emission vehicles, research on industry trends, writing reports and developing presentations.

Existing knowledge of and experience working with transportation sector emission reduction and/or decarbonization programs is essential. The successful candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:

* Technology feasibility assessment

* Fleet electrification studies

* Emissions modeling and analysis

* Criteria and Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies

* Fuel supply and demand analysis

* Clean vehicles and fuels incentive programs

**Key Responsibilities**

* Leading or supporting analyses of strategies and scenarios to reduce transportation sector greenhouse gas, toxics, and criteria pollutant emissions

* Leading or supporting transportation electrification planning studies for government and utility clients.

* Developing and analyzing forecasts of zero emission vehicle sales and market penetration.

* Developing and analyzing forecasts of the use of conventional and alternative fuels (renewable and biofuels) in the transportation sector

* Analyzing locations for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and/or stations for alternative fuels.

* Staying current and connected with the electric and alternative fuel vehicle market, including trends, policies, key players, and more.

* Leading or supporting the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, presentations, and other opportunities.

* Interacting with clients.

**Desired Qualifications**

* Bachelors or Masters degree in transportation, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field.

* 2 or more years of work experience in clean transportation, outside of university work.

* Foundational knowledge in transportation decarbonization and alternative fuels, including vehicle technologies and charging/fueling infrastructure.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Proficiency with statistical and analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel and R

* Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, C#

* Familiarity with database management systems such as MySQL

* Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.

* Flexibility and sound business ethics.
