Division/Department: Special Events and Individual Giving

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week; Monday-Friday, 9-5pm, Regular, Full Time

Pay Type: $50,000-$55,000 annualized salary

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Special Events and Campaigns, you will assist the senior manager and the Development team by implementing an individual giving strategy, including growing individual gifts, cultivating/stewardingexisting donors, and identifying prospective new individual small to mid range donors. Your role will also provide administrative support for the team and Henry Street's fundraising events ranging from various large-scale events tosmaller cultivation events. Your support will include performing logistical, operational, and administrative tasks for Henry Street events, including The Art Show and other cultivation efforts. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to wear many hats, be a team player, be proactive, and have excellent communication skills. The nature of the work requires maximum flexibility and resourcefulness, in addition to impeccable tact and judgment.

Henry Street Settlement runs a series of special events to raise vital funds for our organization, including:

  • The Art Show - a celebratedart fair and Henry Street Settlement'slargest fundraiser


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least two (2) years of work in fundraising and/or non-profit individual giving and donorcultivation/administrative or event coordination roles ideally in a Development Office and/or cultural institution or equivalent
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge a plus
  • Experience with CRM systems a plus, including Classy
  • Excellent proofreading, writing, storytelling, and verbal communications skills
  • Proven track record of donor management and the ability to handle relationships with stakeholderswith tact and maturity
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professionally rigorous environment and manage multiple demandsand deadlines
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to multitask and work independently in a hands-onwork environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact courteously, effectively and tactfully with Henry Street staff, Board Members andCommittees, the general public, outside organizations and groups
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite and web applications
  • Commitment to and knowledge of the human service and cultural communities of New York City


Responsibilities:

Individual Giving

  • Maintain detailed data records of prospects, donor conversations, acknowledgments,proposal submissions, reports and notes
  • Create and send thoughtful, well-written letters of appreciation to donors
  • Conduct new prospect research with the implementation of the Research Point Database to develop accurate donor profiles
  • Contribute to new individual donor cultivation strategies, including innovative uses of technology, social media, crowdfunding, and collaboration with Henry Street Settlement's Communications and Marketing team
  • Support the writing of annual appeals, emails, and articles for Henry Street publications. Campaign development and copy writing in our Classy CRM


Special Events

  • Enter data to track event solicitation efforts, both online and by mail support, and registration for event donors and patrons
  • Assist in preparing letters and acknowledgment letters for event donors and patrons Prepare mailings of printed materials and event ticketing
  • Assist in the production and management of cultivation, recognition, and fund-raising events Update database with current information provided by event donors, including addressesand listing names
  • Serve as co-lead event staff
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Internal Operations

  • Monitor inventory levels of office supplies and assist in the procurement process as needed
  • Scribe team meeting agenda and share with teams before meeting times. Manage the flow of internal team meetings, scribe notes, and follow up with next steps
  • Manage the team's PO, including accurate tracking of usage, maintain hard copies, and work in collaboration with the Purchasing department to ensure processing is completed
  • Complete the weekly online donor gift report, compiling and summarizing donation information for internal use
  • Manage office by ensuring materials needed are full stocked, order necessary supplies as needed.
  • Submit work requests for the team as needed


Essential Physical Job Functions:

  • This position is currently remote and in-person
  • Ability to walk up three flights of stairs
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
