JOB SUMMARY:


Searching for a Retail Store Manager for a thrift and resale store that supports reuse and recycling programs across the world. The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operations of the store, which includes supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring excellent customer service, managing finances and cash handling procedures, achieving sales targets, establishing standards for loss prevention, fostering team cohesion, managing donation processing, and maintaining visual merchandising standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Create and put into action documented protocols for store operations, covering tasks such as opening and closing procedures, methods for accepting, sorting, and pricing donations, security measures for staff and volunteers, cash handling procedures, and any other necessary operational guidelines.
  • Oversee the staffing process from approval to termination, including recruitment, interviews, hiring, onboarding, training, discipline, and terminations.
  • Manage the processing of donated items, including sorting, hanging, tagging, steaming, displaying, and disposing of items in a timely manner.
  • Implement and enforce loss prevention strategies and store policies.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in the sorting area, storage spaces, and loading dock.
  • Supervise and provide feedback to staff and volunteers to enhance productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Inspire and lead the team by setting operational standards and providing training.
  • Develop schedules for both paid staff and volunteers to ensure adequate coverage while meeting financial goals and maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Maintain control over cash management, including expenditures, receipts, procedures, counts, and deposits.
  • Review financial statements and prepare reports for the leadership team.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and complete additional projects as required.
  • Create annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Education and Experience: Requires an Associate s degree and a minimum of five years of retail management experience or equivalent. Must have experience in customer service, staff supervision, and thrift store management.


  • Language Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Conversational Spanish skills preferred.


  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic math, including calculations of area, mass, and cost analysis.


  • Other Skills and Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Must be detail-oriented, self-driven, results-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision. Exceptional people skills required.


Physical Demands:


  • Requires continual standing/walking, reaching overhead, bending, squatting, kneeling, and carrying products.


  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs, perform store maintenance tasks, and lift boxes up to 55 lbs.


  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, or outside weather conditions.
