Nature of the Position

Perform all tasks essential in the preparation, storage of finished products and raw materials utilizing reactors, storage tanks, pumps and other equipment specific to Coim's manufacturing units. Primary duties will involve: charging raw materials to the reactor, packaging completed batches and re-packing finish good; obtaining samples and performing basic analysis as water test; shipping finish good and receiving raw material through tank truck and / or railcar. Operate transfer sequences on the SACDA PLC system. Conducting all processing operations in manufacturing ensuring all work is performed in a safe, orderly, and clean fashion.

Job Function

General

  • Must possess a good working knowledge of plant equipment in the assigned operating unit
  • Must possess a good understanding of the operation and processes in the assigned operating unit
  • Must understand and follow all safety and operating procedures
  • Maintain daily logs and records as instructed
  • Responsible for maintaining the boiler log and managing the boiler operator schedule (optional through the black seal boiler certification)
  • Participates on investigative teams and site group initiatives (e.g. PHAs, PSSR, etc.)
  • Must show understanding of PID/PFD of assigned operating unit
  • Must understand basic chemistry for products made in assigned production area
  • Maintain plant cleanliness to Coim's housekeeping standards
  • Recognizes and documents "abnormal" operating conditions with proper response including immediate notification of supervision
  • Perform physical Cycle Count
  • Dispose of empty used containers
  • Assists in training newer operators

Raw Materials
  • Reading batch and operating instructions associated with the preparation of raw material
  • Must show proficiency in Navision navigation and RM receipt transactions
  • Unload bulk raw materials and intermediates from trucks and railcars to storage or packages
  • Proper operation of transfer controls, PLC systems, pneumatic, and electrical equipment for the offloading of raw materials
  • Sampling of incoming raw materials
  • Preparation of re-work and partials containers in ovens for upcoming batches

Charge Reactors
  • Possess good working knowledge of batch-calc including log page and recipe pages entries for tracking of raw material and packing procedures
  • Load raw material in the reactors through super-sacks, totes or drums material
  • Preliminary knowledge of reactors PLC front page for applying vacuum to reactors for loading of raw materials Reading of basic parameters (temperature - pressure - mixer speed)
  • Using the proper checklist to track raw material charging
  • Loading Re-work and partials package in the reactors and dissolvers

Finished Good
  • Reading batch and operating instructions associated with the preparation of the packaging of finished products.
  • Loading of bulk trucks and railcars
  • Retaining sample for package or bulk loading
  • Preliminary usage of the SCADA PLC in order to startup package and truck loading from dissolvers or storages
  • Perform moisture analysis on retains
  • Re-package finish good for customer shipments
  • Proper preparation of package material (labels, tight the bung and cap, clean drums and totes) and store it in the proper building
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical and Work Environment
  • Wear protective or safety equipment such as a respirator as needed
  • Walking between departments, using stairs and climbing ladders
  • Bending and lifting up to 50 lbs manually and unassisted

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $24.50 per hour

Requirements

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Education/Experience
  • Position requires a High School diploma or GED
  • 1 yr min exp as a batch process operator in a chemical or similar field
  • Rail or shuttle wagon experience desirable.
  • Must be able to work a Dupont schedule (12-hour rotating day and night shifts, alternating 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. Workdays are interspersed with one to seven consecutive days off).
  • Maintain a black seal boiler license (optional)
  • Forklift Operation
  • Ottowa Operation (optional)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft systems, Outlook, Excel. Must have excellent written and verbal skills
