Forklift Driver Emmett Sawmill **Primary Responsibilities:**

The Forklift Operator will load and unload company products and supplies from incoming and outgoing tractor trailers or other types of vehicles in a safe, timely, and quality manner. All Woodgrain employees will be expected to exemplify the our core values and put Safety Above All.

**Essential Duties**

* Loads and unloads company product in a safe, timely, and quality manner. Prevents loading of product that is not suitable for shipping due to poor packaging, unitizing, or some other known quality problem.

* Ensures corner brackets are used on trucks. Maintains good rapport with truck drivers to improve process.

* Facilitates and performs air freights when needed.

* Performs forklift preventative maintenance checks and attends forklift safety meetings.

* Identifies and corrects quality problems in own work.

* Keeps product staging areas clean.

* Performs responsibilities as assigned by shipping coordinator. Will backup and assist shipping coordinator with paper work, inventory, and other responsibilities as needed.

* Moves product from wrap to packaging as time permits. Assists packaging with banding and off bearing as time permits.

**Daily, before and after inspection**

* Fill out a daily forklift inspection sheet (before startup & after you are done)

* Check your fuel & add if necessary

* **All Deficiencies must be listed on Inspection sheet**

* **All guards must be in-place before starting machine**

**Daily Startup Procedures**

* Perform daily pre-start check

* Turn on hyster

* Drive to planer **(speed limit is 5 mph)**

**Skills & Qualifications:**

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Must be a safety minded individual who is comfortable working in a production environment. Lock out/tag out trained.

* The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

**Minimum Education:**

* High School Diploma or equivalent
