Job Title: Scatter Modeller- Part Time

Description (scope of work)
IBSS is looking for a part time scientist to make acoustic scattering models and morphological/anatomical data sets as widely available as possible to the scientific community. The primary open-source language will be Python (v3+), and R will be considered a supplemental language. Morphological and anatomical datasets will require a common open-source format, such as HDF5 or an open-source relational database.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and document software programs/scripts in an open-source software language that provide predicted acoustic backscatter by acoustic scattering models.
- Develop and implement a digital interface to interactively run and output predicted backscatter from the acoustic scattering models on the world wide web.
- Develop and document a database for anatomical and morphological measurements of fish and plankton in an open-source data format.
- Develop and implement a digital interface to interactively access anatomical/morphological data on the world wide web.
Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Proficient knowledge of Python and R
- Experience working with morphological and anatomical data
- Experience with acoustic modelling
