Job Description

The Kean University Foundation Foundation is seeking an accomplished, goal-oriented Director of Prospect Research, Researcher , to join the Foundation team during an extraordinary time of excitement and growth.

This position will define and implement the prospect research program and will utilize innovative analytics to maximize the potential of the Foundation s overall prospect pipeline.

Using industry best practices and methodologies, the Researcher will develop, implement and streamline business processes, including those related to prospect research, predictive modeling, portfolio management and report development in alignment with division goals.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct Prospect Research: Utilize various research tools, databases, and publicly available information to identify potential alumni and non-alumni donors who have a demonstrated interest in philanthropy and align with Kean University's priorities. Prepare high-level briefings for Foundation and University leadership that are accurate and concise.

- Prospect Evaluation: Assess the capacity, inclination, and philanthropic history of potential donors through comprehensive research and analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to the development team to determine the best approach for donor engagement.

- Prospect Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospect information, interactions, and research findings in the donor database. Regularly update prospect profiles to ensure accurate tracking and strategic planning.

- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other members of the Foundation team, including gift officers, consultants, and leadership, to share prospect research findings, insights, and strategies. Facilitate effective communication and coordination to maximize donor engagement and achieve fundraising goals.

- Donor Pipeline Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust prospect pipeline by identifying new prospects.

- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze prospect data, performance metrics, and campaign progress to generate reports and provide insights to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making processes.

- Confidentiality: Adhere to the confidentiality, security, and integrity standards of the Kean University Foundation s policies and procedures along with the ethical guidelines set forth in the Association of Prospect Researchers for Advancement Ethics Statement.

Other duties as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Strategic and detailed planner who understands the role of fund development in a higher education environment.

Proactive, able to prioritize work to maximize department resources.

Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Contribute ideas and process improvements using available resources.

Ability to develop and maintain solid and effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree required.

- Minimum of 5 years of directly related, progressively responsible experience in fundraising, research, data management and/or analytics; preferably in a higher education and/or non-profit setting.

- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

- Exceptional attention to detail.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Power Point, Microsoft 365, and advanced Excel), Adobe Acrobat, RaisersEdge.

- Ability to work independently and manage large projects.

- A commitment to working in and promoting a culture of inclusion and a clear understanding of the important role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the higher education environment.

- Occasional night and weekend work is required.
