Operations and Maintenance Technician


Job Details

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operates and Maintains the Power Generation Facility

Maintains an electronic logbook of operational activities.

Troubleshoot plant process abnormalities/alarms using various indicators and historical trends.

Handle daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.

Perform preventative maintenance tasks.

Issue safety work permits and perform lock-out / tag-out of various process equipment.

Support ammonia liquid bulk delivery systems and maintain storage tank production.

Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions. Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed.

Attend/Participate in monthly safety meetings.

Follow proper LOTO procedures to ensure safety for individuals working at the Power Generation Facility (tests for voltage, apply grounding device, apply locks, etc).

Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make minor adjustments or, submit work requests to maintenance as required.

Ability to deal effectively with other employees, outside contractors and vendors.

Aid with development of asset management-based maintenance program to ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with OEM guidelines.


Requirements:

Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.

Ability to read/understand Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (PIDs).

Troubleshoot, repair, replace and clean equipment and components of the Power Generation Facility.

Experience with computers and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) a plus.

Experience with transformation, Gas Insulated Switchgear a plus.

Experience with operations/maintenance of Gas Turbine technology a plus.

Understanding of basic protective relay equipment for transformers and substation equipment; SEL, ABB, GE, Siemens, ETC

Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.


Physical Requirements - must be able to:

Climb ladders and steps and lift 70 lbs.

Be available during mandatory call-in requirements as scheduled.

Perform elevated work as required.

Work in all weather conditions.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Previous work experience in operating/maintaining Power Generation Facilities. Desire and ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and participate in a mandatory oncall rotation. Highly motivated self-starter with desire to learn.
