Colorado Women s Education Foundation (CWEF) is on a mission to invest in women who are transforming their lives through education. Since 1976, we have provided over 700 scholarships to Colorado women totaling almost $750,000. We are immensely proud of all that we have accomplished with minimal staffing support and are ready to take CWEF to the next level by hiring our first Executive Director.

Reporting to the board of trustees, the executive director will oversee implementation of CWEF s strategic goals and objectives and all aspects of fund development, community outreach, collaborative partnerships, and management of day-to-day operations. Experience in fundraising and communications is essential, and established relationships with local community groups is a plus. Above all, the executive director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness.

Objectives of this role

  • Work closely with board members and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization
  • Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance
  • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations
  • Increase awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media
  • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow
  • Comply with all national and local regulations

Responsibilities

  • Create business plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with board of trustees
  • Meet aggressive annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of trustees, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
  • Work with staff and board on annual fundraising benefit and additional events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs
  • Build and lead an effective team that s dedicated to fulfilling the organization s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising
  • Manage staff members and scholarship recipients whose experiences, cultures, and languages reflect the community served by the organization

Required skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of five years experience in a senior-level leadership position at a nonprofit organization
  • Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
  • Proven success working with a board of directors
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
  • Bachelor s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Located in the front range area

Benefits

  • Salary is $70,000
  • 3 weeks of accrued Paid Time Off annually plus 11 paid holidays
  • This is a full-time remote position
