About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Director of Project Development to oversee and manage the development of energy storage projects across the ERCOT, SPP, and MISO territories.


This key role is crucial for strategic growth and operational success, driving projects from concept through the Notice to Proceed (NTP) stage and providing support in subsequent phases.


Responsibilities:


  • Direct and mentor 3 Project Development Managers to effectively de-risk and advance projects within the designated regions.
  • Lead site identification and acquisition processes, performing thorough due diligence to ensure optimal project sites.
  • Develop and execute strategies to manage project pipelines across the regions, setting priorities and schedules to meet complex milestone deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to mitigate risks associated with real estate, permitting, interconnection, financing, and construction.
  • Formulate permitting strategies and collaborate with local teams for compliance and progression within respective state and local regulations.
  • Engage with policy and community by strategizing interactions with regulatory bodies and local communities.
  • Support project financing by working with finance teams to ensure projects meet financial objectives and assist in the financing process.
  • Drive commercial strategies, including opportunity identification, RFP submissions, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee interconnection processes, analyzing requirements and risks to inform project decision-making.
  • Provide support in deal execution, facilitating the closing and financing of project deals.
  • Manage the investment committee's approval process for development decisions.
  • Train and mentor direct reports to align their growth with their interests and company goals.


Qualifications:


  • At least 8-10 years of experience in renewable energy project development, particularly in large-scale storage/transmission projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of state permitting processes and interconnection procedures within the ERCOT, SPP, and MISO regions. (ERCOT expert area as a preference)
  • Demonstrated leadership with a history of managing teams and bringing projects from site origination through NTP.
  • Solid understanding of energy market dynamics in the specified territories.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and completing critical agreements such as site leases, environmental and engineering studies, permitting approvals, and interconnection agreements.
  • Experience in organizations that have developed energy storage projects is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
