JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer to support The Ocean Biology Processing Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

The Ocean Biology Processing Group ( at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is a world leader in satellite-based remote sensing of the ocean. This position will support scientific software development for current and future satellite radiometers supported by the OBPG.

Duties include:

Implementation of processing algorithms in science softwareEvaluation and validation of code performance and adherence to coding standardsCode testing and verification using static and dynamic analysis toolsCode maintenance and configuration management control

Qualifications

Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Science (post graduate education will be considered for professional experience).

Required (Basic) Skills:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the development of scientific data processing software using C, C++, or Fortran in a UNIX/Linux environment; strong verbal and written communications skills. The successful candidate must also be eligible for unescorted access to NASA facilities.

Experience with satellite instrument software development. Experience with evaluation of geophysical products retrieved from satellite data or environmental modeling, image processing, science modeling

Code maintenance and configuration management control

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
