Senior or Principal HV Electrical Engineer or Manager
Hecate Energy is seeking a mid to senior-level High Voltage Electrical Engineer or Engineering Manager to facilitate the engineering, procurement, and construction of project substations and transmission lines for Hecate Energy s 40 GW development project pipeline. The position will be able to build bottoms up cost estimates for High Voltage Power systems and maintain best-in-class relationships with critical materials vendors. This position has the option to include more general project management of solar and storage assets in construction if desired. The specific title, responsibilities, and compensation package for this position will be commensurate with experience. This position will report to the SVP of Engineering or the CTO.
Responsibilities
- Create internal conceptual and preliminary designs of project substations and transmission lines for purposes including interconnection, permitting, project sales, and construction preparation
- Lead value-engineering design optimization and support performance and loss modeling
- Maintain Scopes of Work, manage consultants, and review deliverables for 3 rd Party design packages from a 10% level to Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings and studies
- Understand applicable codes, design standards, and technical requirements for substations and transmission lines and ensure they are met throughout the engineering, procurement, and construction process
- Support evaluation and procurement of major equipment including HV and MV transformers
- This position may include occasional travel to project sites and other locations
Qualifications
- 3-10+ years of high voltage electrical engineering experience, EIT/PE preferred
- Utility scale solar design experience preferred
- Bachelor s degree or greater in electrical engineering
- Experience with transmission line and substation design and protection schemes
- Comfort bringing sense to ambiguity and driving forward one s technical initiatives
- Self-awareness of one s quirks and appreciation for those of teammates
