Title: Community Ice Center Operations Manager

Duration: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Location: Glenview, IL

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 Annually + Benefits (includes participation in Park District programs)


Responsibilities:

Oversee entire ice center operations, managing two large rinks and one small rink.

Coordinate with hockey clubs and figure skating clubs for training year-round.

Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including youth, parents, vendors, pro shop, and on-site amenities.

Promote the center and optimize space utilization for revenue maximization.

Maintain a strong onsite presence and engage with the community.

Develop strategies to address underutilization of the recently constructed facility during off-peak months.

Supervise a team of 7 internal employees, collaborate with coaches, and oversee part-time staff in restaurants and coffee shops.

Manage the fiscal year budget (May - April) in accordance with public entity procedures.

Troubleshoot facility issues and supervise programs and events.

Analyze financial data, oversee financial controls, and seek revenue opportunities.

Develop and implement business plans, marketing strategies, and operational policies.

Plan for capital asset replacement and participate in construction projects.

Facilitate inter-facility and inter-departmental communication and collaboration.

Ensure ADA compliance and serve as facility liaison.

Monitor budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.

Prepare reports and documentation for board meetings and audits.

Implement marketing plans and provide customer service.

Ensure safety and environmental compliance.

Supervise staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.

Oversee contractors, consultants, and vendors.


Requirements:

At least 5 years of related experience, with supervisory experience and a Valid Illinois driver s license are required.

Bachelor s Degree, CPRP, and/ or similar certification in recreation preferred.

Strong communication, collaboration, sales, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle large events/crowd management and remain calm in stressful situations.

Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting facility issues.

Proficiency in math, finance, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), with a willingness to learn additional systems.

Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act.

Previous experience managing a public or private ice rink or community building, preferably with winter ice sports.

Ability to skate or walk on ice, strong business acumen and knowledge of ice center management.

Work Hours: 8am-5:30pm, Monday - Friday, including nights and weekends as needed.

Weekday schedule will be split as follows:

8am-3pm: Budget management, operational oversight, etc.

3pm-5:30pm: Availability for public interaction.
