Human Resources Generalist

OCT Consulting is an SBA-certified, 8(a) small business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

OCT Consulting is looking for a mid-level Human Resources (HR) Generalist with 3-6 years of HR and office experience who will be responsible for supporting human resources programs for the company. Our HR Generalist will become an integral part of our growing HR Department and work closely with the HR Manager and other HR Staff Members by:

  • Supporting the coordination and implementation of services, policies, and programs for our fast-growing business
  • Partnering with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resources and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention
  • Supporting the HR Manager in analyzing trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of HR policies, employee manual and documentation
  • Supporting the management of OCT's performance management and appraisal process and develop supporting policies
  • Assisting in the management of the new employee onboarding process, including coordinating benefits programs and open enrollment requirements
  • Conducting exit interviews and conduct trend analysis to support improved retention strategies
  • Supporting coordination of paperwork required to obtain government suitability and/or security clearances
  • Assisting to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; develops and reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance, including VETS, EEO, and AAP reporting
  • Developing and managing learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities
  • Supporting the HR Manager in issues related to employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Organizing Corporate and Staff events
  • Maintaining Company Recognition programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications
  • At least three to six years of human resources experience preferred (SHRM-CP or similar a great plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems and best HR practices
  • Position is mostly remote, but must be able to reliably commute to McLean, VA (Tyson's Corner) as needed.
