Calibration Technician


Job Details

The calibration technician is responsible for calibrating equipment, as well as maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting basic instrumentation both for the calibration laboratory and production lines.
The primary focus of the calibration technician is to ensure that all instrumentation, gauges, and testing devices/equipment are calibrated correctly, on-time, and maintain NIST traceability.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
1. Must be capable of developing calibration testing procedures, in cooperation with the requesting engineer, for each piece of equipment based on technical specifications and end use.
2. Measurement errors must be quickly identified and corrected.
3. Instruments that require inspection and repair may be of an acoustical, chemical, electrical, fluid, mechanical, optical or thermodynamic nature.
4. Compile, measure and record data (as-found & as-left) from each instrument, and maintain the associated calibration database.
5. Additional tasks may include training subordinates, ordering replacement parts for faulty equipment, and researching advances in calibration techniques.
6. This position emphasizes healthy customer relationships, positive team-work attitudes, and full cooperation with auditors

Candidate skills & requirements
Qualifications:
Education -
Required - Calibration, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, or Systems Engineering; Associate of Applied Science, Engineering Technologies degree, 2-year vocational or equivalent education/experience
Preferred - Calibration Engineering Technology Associate of Applied Science or Calibration Technician Certification Program
Experience -
Required - 2 to 3 years in industrial calibration experience
Preferred - 5+ years in industrial calibration experience.
Special Knowledge/Skills -
Required
Proficient with Windows based PC and Microsoft Office Suite
Read, interpret and understand specifications and schematics
Ability to troubleshoot
Self-driven, organized, critical thinker, and high attention to detail
Ability to communicate well verbally and through written reports/procedures
Understanding of NIST traceability
Preferred
Understanding of pneumatics (pressure, flow), electrical (DC and AC), and forces
Oxygen safety training
Aptitude for math, technical writing, and advanced knowledge of computers (i.e. serial communications, setting up drivers and applications)
Annual salary
$65,000 - $85,000 depending on experience
