Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) provides protection for an employer against claims made by employees, former employees, or prospective employees alleging, among other things: harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, negligent evaluation, failure to employ or promote, wrongful discipline, deprivation of career opportunity, negligent infliction of emotional distress, violations of FMLA, ADA, USERRA and other similar laws. Tokio Marine HCC's underwriters were among the first to develop an EPLI program and are located in several officesacross the country with decades of combined experience.This is a market-facing production underwriting role on a close-knit team of highly motivated and productive individuals. You will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business and developing relationships with our key customers to achieve our teams shared objectives. You will need to be able to operate with minimal supervision yet know when to seek guidance or approval, have a willingness to speak up and promote positive change, be results-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for compliance with underwriting guidelines, mentoring, educating, and developing a staff of Underwriters. Additionally, performs quality control review to ensure compliance with company risk appetite, procedures, and reinsurance guidelines; sets the right example by providing quality care/service to clients; and works closely with Marketing and product development to ensure the company is meeting the product and pricing needs of our customers.Performance ObjectivesMonitor the production and underwriting function for an underwriting team dedicated to a specific product(s).Ensure compliance with both Lloyd's of London underwriting guidelines and internal underwriting.Ensure that internal underwriting guidelines are current and approved by Vice President.Approve risks for staff that are within Underwriting Authority.Decline risks that do not meet underwriting guidelines.Decrease the value of the policy when risk is substandard and specify applicable endorsements and/or apply the rating to ensure risk selection.Evaluate the possibility of losses due to catastrophe exposure.Examine documents to determine degrees of risk from such factors as applicant information, loss history, and risk management practices.Communicate with producers to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain the companyunderwriting policies.Follow insurance laws.Manage workflow and delegate to staff as needed.Make recommendations for procedural changes as needed.Provide support to the Vice President of Underwriting for complex and diverse activities.Fosters productive relationships between Cyber & Professional Lines Group and various brokers.Write business correspondence.Interface with peers, senior management, and other Cyber & Professional Lines Group team members to further the goals and objectives of the organization.Experience & Education

A 4-year BA/BS degree in Business, Risk Management, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience5 years of relevant and progressive professional experienceManagement Liability experience preferred.EPL Product development, Marketing, and Brooker relationshipFranchise Affinity Group knowledgeStrong Marketing skills a plusOther

For candidates working in person or remotely in the Below locations, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is Mt. Kisco, NY, New York, NY, or Jersey City, NJ , Washington State $83,200 -$117,500 annually, Connecticut $81,600 -112,200 annually. The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company.
