What you will do:
Cambridge s Compliance Director (CD) will have responsibility for overseeing and developing the company s compliance program. Ultimately, the CD must ensure that Cambridge is compliant with all laws and regulations concerning the government contracting industry as well as internal standards and policies. As a vital member of our team, you will be relied upon to build meaningful, timely and accurate policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms, along with associated recommendations to our senior leadership. In addition, you will work closely with management to identify all regulatory risks and apply timely measures to avoid breaking internal or external rules and regulations.

Critical areas of focus and areas of responsibility:
  • Oversees the Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position ensures management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company s Standards of Conduct.
  • Monitors and reports results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the company and provides guidance for senior management on matters relating to compliance.
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the Corporate Compliance Program, including the Compliance Champions initiative, the company-wide Compliance Communications efforts and all reporting mechanisms including the third-party administered anonymous hotline.
  • Develops and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Export Control, Human Resources, Contracts, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
  • Consults with the Corporate attorney as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues. Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved. Conducts internal investigations in accordance with company policy and procedures and provides leadership with recommendations for action.
  • Monitors key compliance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends.
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Provides reports on a regular basis to CEO, and as directed or requested, to keep the Executive Committee and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
  • Considered an emerging authority, who applies extensive technical expertise. Develops technical solutions to complex problems. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Education, experience, and training requirements:
  • A bachelor s degree in business management, law, finance, business administration or any other relevant field (or a Master's with 6-8 years of experience)
  • Experience in Defense/Government Contracting with 8-10 years of experience in roles with direct exposure in managing risks and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
  • Expert knowledge in FAR 52.203-13 Internal Control Systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Federal procurement/contracting.
    • US government cost accounting standards
    • US government purchasing and supply chain regulations.
    • General knowledge of import/export control requirements and regulatory requirements
    • Federal labor laws overall and best practices in state led employment practices
    • Federal security information protection requirements.
  • Completion of Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional Program (CCEP) through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) or equivalent through Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) Preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance; active secret clearance preferred.
  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.
Travel Requirements
  • In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
Physical Environment and Working Conditions
Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements. If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
