Summary of Position

The Recoveries Assistant is an entry-level position that provides overall administrative support to the subrogation department and is responsible for assisting in the initializing, processing, and settling of recovery claims.

Position Functions
The Recoveries Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to underwriters, brokers, assureds, and other key stakeholders in all aspects of recovery/subrogation handling by:
    1. Identifying and reviewing closed claims for subrogation potential.
    2. Initializing automated recovery demands to carriers within identified lines of business utilizing in house proprietary programs.
    3. Liaising with carrier claims staff to provide needed documentation for recovery claims.
    4. Maintaining organized and detailed recovery claim files within internal database systems.
    5. Utilizing internal diary system to maintain regular ongoing communication with liable parties and prevent files from going stale.
    6. Receiving, recording, and applying subrogation payments accordingly.
    7. Ensuring all recoveries mail is sorted, copied, saved to the file, and replied to if appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The candidate should be customer service orientated, demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to share knowledge and work effectively in a team environment with all levels of company staff; possess strong professional verbal and written communication skills, strong mathematical skills, strong time management and organizational skills; and analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently in a fast-paced office environment. Hands-on training is provided.

Other Requirements

A college degree or certificate in any related business or 1+ year of experience in an office environment is preferred.
A working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, Adobe, spreadsheet software, and general computer skills are required.
Some knowledge of the insurance and/or logistic fields is a plus.
A willingness to complete continuing education courses in the insurance field is required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit and operate a computer; answer and communicate effectively on a telephone; operate fax and copy machine.

Hours of Operation and Working Conditions

This positions work hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, in a business-casual office environment. We currently operate in a hybrid capacity with 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required and 2 days at home. This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives. Occasional business travel may be required
