Recruitment Number 24-020JCK, Law Clerk (Maui Fire Cases), SR-20, Full Time Temporary, $4,690 to $5,713 per month* (SR-20, step D to I), Wailuku, Maui.

*Starting salary may be at a rate between the minimum and maximum listed above based on qualifications.

Summary of Duties

This Law Clerk position will assist the Chief Judge of the Second Circuit with all the designated Maui fire cases. The Law Clerk will perform legal and other research, and assist the Judge with the court's preparation for hearings and trials, and also assist with preparing the courtroom for sessions and maintaining appropriate courtroom conduct.

The Law Clerk will review case files, analyze documents and research cited authorities, laws, and statutes to determine whether they are supported by the facts of the case. They will also advise the Judge on the specifics of the case, make suggestions concerning problems which may be anticipated, and note special legal issues which may be present and offer possible solutions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education Requirement: Graduation from a school of law recognized by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctor degree.
