The Rehabilitation Technician provides assistance to therapists during direct patient care as part of a team. Assists with patient care to facilitate patient progression through designated plan of care including set up/take down of equipment and modalities. Assists in transporting patients to/from and between therapy area and their rooms, inventory planning including ordering and stocking supplies, cleaning, maintaining equipment and work area. Assists with clerical duties as required.

GENERAL DUTIES

Assists Therapists with treatments:

  • Provides physical assistance to the Therapists when providing patient care in the facility or community.
  • Seeks clarification on instructions as needed.
Facilitates and maintains a safe environment:
  • Cleans equipment per recommended procedures and follows established infection control guidelines.
  • Logs temperatures as appropriate on refrigerator, freezer hydrocollator and paraffin units, notifying biomed and supervisor when temperatures are out of range.
Follows schedule provided by Supervisor and Therapist:
  • Demonstrates flexibility when confronted with unanticipated schedule changes or departmental needs.
  • Communicates with Supervisor and Therapist regarding time available for assistance in other areas.
Maintains inventory of supplies and performs clerical duties:
  • Monitors supply level and generates order with staff input.
  • Distributes supplies to appropriate area.
  • Performs clerical/administrative duties such as greeting, guiding and transporting patients as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.
  • Required: 1 year of experience as a Therapist Aide, CNA, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Therapy or related field.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience in Clerical/Customer Service.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider - American Heart Association
  • Preferred: Non-Violent Crisis Prevention - Crisis Prevention Institute
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to assist with treatments under direction of Therapists.
  • Ability to maintain a clean environment and assist in maintaining clean procedures.
  • Must possess CPR skills and certification.
  • Training in PT, OT, ST, and TR technician duties.
