(Physician/MD qualifications required) Administrator/Executive - Chief medical officers are healthcare administrators who oversee the effective management of medical centers. They are responsible for managing clinical operations, liaising between the administration and medical staff, and ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of medical care.

The Chief Medical Officer directs the staff and develops policies for the organization s clinical programs. Works closely with clinic staff, directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. A Chief Medical Officer oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Evaluate developments and innovations in medical care and make recommendations for new practices and procedures. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer advises the CEO and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Requires an MD or DO. Requires State License to practice medicine. Typically reports to CEO. The Chief Medical Officer oversees a business unit, division, or corporate function with a major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives. The CMO has the acquired business acumen and leadership experience to become the top function or organizational head.
