Director of Fundraising and Development


Job Details

The Daily Memphian which Politico called One of the best local news sites in the country is adding a Development Director to join our organization. The Development Director will working closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to lead fundraising efforts for The Daily Memphian, which is a 501c3 nonprofit.


Those efforts include cultivating and managing foundations (both in Memphis and around the country), building and maintaining relationships with high net worth individuals and corporations, and expanding our personal giving at a wide range of dollar amounts.


The Development Director will oversee digital and traditional marketing, fundraising events, grant writing and all the efforts to maintain and expand philanthropic giving. The Development Director will also manage a mix of staff and contractors working on fundraising efforts, including marketing, event coordinators, donor management, data analysis, customer service and more.


The ideal candidate will have proven experience in philanthropy, as well as have experience with managing others in a small, fast-paced environment.


The Daily Memphian was launched as an online-only news source in September 2018 and is the go to source for local news in Memphis, including politics, business, sports, food and dining, arts and culture, neighborhood news, and more.


The Daily Memphian is one of the largest non-profit local newsrooms in America, with 35 full-time journalists and 15 regular contributors as well as 12 full-time staff in marketing, ad sales, technology and business.


We are a locally led, locally owned, fully independent online news site focused on all aspects of the Memphis area, from local government and sports to food, arts & culture, business, education, neighborhoods and much more. Our staff is more than 50% female and 25% people of color.
