Van Driver

Summary: In addition to driving vehicles, serves as the face of the organization, escorting passengers door-to-door to ensure safety.

Reports to: Driver Supervisor

Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour (Full time drivers will get PTO accrual, paid vacations, dental/vision/medical available; Part time drivers will get PTO accrual)

FLSA Category: Non-exempt

Responsibilities

Operates passenger vehicles to drive assigned transportation routes throughout the county, assisting client passengers as appropriate in a courteous and professional manner. Often loads and off-loads walking aids, (e.g., canes, walkers, etc.) and packages.

Ensures routes are consistently completed safely and on time. Remains in constant communication with Dispatch. Promptly reports and records deviations when necessary. Requests backup assistance when appropriate.

Performs accurate, efficient and thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift. Completes requisite documentation.

Ensures assigned vehicles are properly and consistently cleaned inside and outside, and fueled on an ongoing basis. Monitors vehicle condition and records malfunctioning items or damage promptly, using appropriate documentation and reporting rules.

Maintains all required licenses, certifications and other training requirements.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent highly desirable. Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

Must possess work history with track record of successful customer service. Experience as a professional driver highly desirable.

Must hold a valid driver s license for at least 3 years with no more than two (2) points on record. Annual verifications are performed.

Must pass criminal background check prior to hire.

Must pass drug and alcohol tests prior to hire, and random tests thereafter.

Must pass physical exam as required by the Ohio Department of Transportation prior to hire.

Needs to be available on days worked from 6 am- 6 pm, as start/end times vary.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting while driving.

Bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, walking and reaching as necessary.

Exposed to all types of outside weather conditions.

Must be able to lift 20 lbs. to assist with helping passengers, walking aids, and other items on and off vehicles.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: From $15.00 per hour
