What You Will Be Doing

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Tenant Construction Coordinator will leverage their skills to optimize efficiency in support of subtenant construction projects for the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) concession programs. This position is responsible for guiding multiple tenant improvement projects in a coordinated manner and in collaboration with the onsite operations team, Airports Authority, an extended team of project managers, consultants, contractors, and tenant representatives engaged in the development of subtenant commercial and common-use space in an airport terminal environment.


The Construction Project Manager:

  • Ensures appropriate project facilitation, monitoring, reporting, tracking and follow-up protocols are in place for effective project management and execution.
  • Manages and oversees the construction-related financial document collection, tracking, and reporting.
  • Manages field and office activities of third-party construction management firms.
  • Manages relationships with contractors, subtenants, airports, government bodies to ensure their needs are met and projects are completed in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Works on-site facilitating the coordination of construction projects.
  • Monitors and produces status reports on contractors performance, deliverables, and adherence to milestone timelines and final delivery.
  • Remains abreast of pertinent contract documents, design criteria, control systems, and project software used by Fraport, Airport, Contractors, and key partners in the delivery of construction projects.
  • Assists and collaborates with third-party construction management firms to verify landlord construction work performed, materials used, and validates adherence for progress payments to contractors.
  • Reviews and manages schedules with all parties to determine upcoming work activities, testing/inspection requirements, equipment needs, coordination requirements for use and discussion in scheduled coordination meetings.
  • Prepares written and verbal status reports for Executive Management update calls, meetings, and or submissions.
  • Ensures that the design and construction projects meet established requirements, and that tenant construction complies with leasehold development standards.
  • Remains abreast of airport operations, security protocol, and notifications processes to ensure adherence and coordination by all parties involved in Fraport USA and Subtenant construction work on airport property.
  • Leads and participates in meetings with contractors, third-party construction management firms, designated airport staff as needed or directed.
  • Ensures the safe keeping and submission of all record drawings for construction projects as required by Master Concessions Agreements and corporate procedures.
  • Reviews contract close-out documents as directed.
  • Represents Fraport USA before outside agencies on matters relating to construction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Your experience and skills include:

  • A minimum of five years of experience as a construction manager
  • The ability to read and interpret code requirements to ensure design submissions to the Airports Authority are accurate, complete, and compliant with code.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction project tracking and reporting techniques or methodologies.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration of permitting and inspections.
  • Ability to guide construction projects to ensure successful coordination of airport and tenant projects.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting, forecasting, and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to execute sound project management and reporting methodologies or techniques.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and maximize limited resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relocate to other Fraport programs as needed preferable.


Preferred Education & Experience

  • Knowledge of and experience with airport concessions and common area construction.
  • Professional Engineer, Architect license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or closely related field.


Licenses & Certifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.


Your Team and Working Environment

  • You will work in a small, nimble team in an exciting airport environment while liaising with USA and global headquarters support teams.
  • You will interact and assist subtenants ranging from small local businesses to multinational corporations and everything in between.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.


Physical Demands

The physical demands consist of moving from one work location to another, sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time and may involve lifting objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.


Work Schedule

Work may require weekend, afternoon, and or evening hours along with travel between local airports using personal transportation.
