The Bioenergy Devco Receiving Operations Asst. Plant Manager is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager with all waste receiving operational and administrative oversight at our facility. This position, in collaboration with the Wastewater Asst. Manager and Plant Manager, will be responsible for process performance, ensuring safety, talent management, permit compliance, P&L and facility budget. This role will also work closely with the Commercial department regarding incoming feedstocks, logistics, customer relations and digested solids offtake. This position reports to the Plant Manager and will work on-site in Jessup, Maryland.ResponsibilitiesOPERATIONSAssist Plant Manager with directing daily activities related to the safe and efficient receiving floor operation. Ensure the plant is operating within its parameters as related to HSE regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.Oversee the receiving and processing of solid and liquid waste materials, according to company and regulatory guidelines, directing Tipping Floor Technicians as needed.Maintain expert knowledge of incoming feedstocks, schedules & customers, receiving protocols according to material type, ticketing process, inbound & outbound scales, digested solids offtake and rolling stock and any additional processes related to tipping floor operation.Monitor feeding records, digestate reports, wastewater, & gas production logs, reporting required parameters.Gain an expert knowledge of all areas of the facility, with an eventual goal of individually supporting all components of the Anaerobic Digestion & Wastewater processes.Continuously monitor expenses against budgets, classify expenses into appropriate categories and introduce/implement cost tracking and saving opportunities.Work collaboratively with Commercial department regarding logistics and customer issues.Oversee digested solids offtake operation for smooth processing, delegating, directing, and instructing when necessary.Work in tandem with WW Asst. Plant Manager & Plant Manager to drive operational goals including cohesive interdepartmental operations, employee management and engagement, training and development and accurate reporting.Communicate with maintenance and biological support teams to ensure efficient running of the plant.Perform regular checks of pre-processing equipment and determine the need to adjust, repair, and carry out basic service of equipment.Complete required maintenance and/or work cross-functionally with Maintenance and Engineering to complete, through planning sessions and submitting work orders via E-Maintenance CMMS.Ensure site tidiness and general good housekeeping throughout the plant.Ensure adequate inventory of consumables such as fuel, and chemicals is maintained.Maintain constant communication regarding pertinent information and operational updates via Microsoft Teams operations channels.Respond to 24/7 to alarms and callouts as necessary.MANAGEMENTAssist Plant Manager with directing all operational and maintenance staff.Create and maintain schedules, resolve schedule conflicts, and handle all follow up correspondence tipping floor personnel.Monitor the efficient intake and record keeping of organic feedstock materials by staff.Collaborate with Human Resource department to complete any new hire, performance management, talent development, schedule, payroll, PTO or employee relation matters.Manage and support a team of Tipping Floor Technicians with technical input for all shifts.Ensure the means are in place to develop tipping floor employees knowledge, skills, progression, and productivity.Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.Promote a culture of collaboration and trust to maximize employee productivity, increase retention, and minimize turnover.Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance team, collaborating on a variety of projects to achieve common goal.Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.ADMINISTRATIONUtilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track and book work orders.Make routine purchases for operational and maintenance needs.Assist in the development of documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)Monitor AD feeding records, gas production, digestate, wastewater and other reports logs.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEDemonstrated knowledge and practical experience in the operation of waste receiving and processing facilities essential to provide the oversight and training of others.Knowledge and/or experience in the safe operations of rolling equipment such as forklifts, front end loaders, skid steers, cranes, and manlifts.Familiarity with instrumentation and controls and SCADA systemsFamiliarity with pumps, compressors, agitators, de-packagers, conveyers, separators, etcs. Knowledge of OSHA regulations such as Confined Space, Hot Work Permits, Working at Height, First Aid, etc. is required. Successful completion of this occupational training shall be required.
