Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Location: Naples, Florida
Terms: Full-time
Overview:
Looking to hire an Environmental Scientist in the field of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Hydrology, or Botany with experience handling and maintaining very large data sets.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring the download of remote data is occurring properly, and maintaining and validating data in Excel.
- Possess standard working knowledge of water quality, hydrology, Florida botany, sampling techniques, data handling and validation and applicable FDEP/SFWMD/USACE QA/QC protocols.
- Collect, analyze, and assess surface and ground water data including stage, flow, nutrients, metals, and salinity/conductivity in the area of Collier-Seminole State Park for the Picayune Strand Restoration Project in Naples, Florida.
- Frequently will have to work outdoors in varying and changing weather conditions.
- Must be organized, responsible, excellent communicator, and mentally invested in the project.
- Must be self-sufficient and use considerable independent judgment and initiative in the completion of duties.
- Must follow applicable safety procedures.
- A working knowledge of GIS is a plus.
- The ability to calibrate and use a variety of field meters is a plus.
Should be skilled and proficient with:
- Follow existing FDEP and USACE QA/QC guidance.
- Implement a Safety Plan and a Quality Assurance Plan.
- Accurately document all field activities and site conditions.
- Troubleshoot and manage water stage and flow measurement devices.
- Problem solving
- Work outdoors year-round in southwest Florida.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in one of the Physical or Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies, Engineering or Geography or closely related field.
- Equivalency: A comparable combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge for this position may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
