A Electronics Technician is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV'S growing success!

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill one (1) vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Utilities department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Pay Considerations - The hourly pay range for this position is $32.85-$49.28. Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule - This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 3:30pm.
Environment - While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; non-weather related hot and cold temperatures; conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dust, mists, gases and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes or the skin; bodily injury from explosions, radiation, falling from high, exposed places and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools or machinery. Regular and timely attendance is required.

THE ROLE
Performs skilled complex tasks involving installing, repairing and maintaining electrical and electronic equipment and software used in wastewater and freshwater processing operations. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains pumping station equipment; assesses pumping station operations and recommends improvements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in electronics engineering technology or related field.
  • Five years of related experience in electronics.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which produces the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license within required time frame.

SELECTION PROCESS
  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City's application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. Multiple-Choice Exam (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%). Test will measure knowledge in basic electrical and electronic equipment and software related to wastewater and freshwater processing operations.
  3. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening - Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2-3 months to complete.
  5. Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
