Job Details

The Green Mountain National Forest interns will work primarily in the following Congressionally designated wilderness areas: Breadloaf, Joseph Battell, Big Branch, Peru Peak, Lye Brook, and Glastenbury Wilderness. Intern activities will include the following tasks: educational outreach, environmental stewardship, invasive plant removal, trail maintenance, and dispersed recreation site maintenance and monitoring. Crew members will travel on foot throughout these areas, making visitor contacts, maintaining hiking trails with hand tools, eradicating non-native invasive plants, conducting campsite inventories, and monitoring the natural resources. Education will focus on wilderness stewardship.

**Conditions of Employment**

Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA volunteer program participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Full vaccination is defined as having received a booster shot six months after the Pfizer and Moderna primary series and two months after the Johnson & Johnson primary series.Location Description Green Mountain National Forest: Manchester, Middlebury and Rochester Ranger Districts, Vermont. Educational/Recreational Opportunities Interns will work with USFS resource specialists with opportunities to learn about recreation, botany, wildlife, and hydrology/soils. Recreation opportunities in Vermont are diverse: hiking, biking, swimming, river tubing, visiting rural towns/festivals.
