Many Languages One Voice (MLOV),founded in 2012,fosters leadership and facilitates community-led initiatives to increase the meaningful inclusion and civic participation of people in the District of Columbia who do not speak English as their primary language in decisions that impact their lives. We approach this by using uniquely integrated strategies that raise awareness of, educate, consult with, advocate for, and organize around the rights of the District's immigrant community of limited and non-English speakers.

Immigrant Services Case Manager: The Case Manager will help low-income immigrants in DC to navigate and access community resources. The Case Manager will connect clients to a range of needed benefits and services, including: government benefits, food assistance, immigration legal services, housing, health care, and employment support. The Case Manager will identify available resources, assist with applications or referrals, and follow up to ensure that services adequately address client needs. This role is part of the MLOV team which is dedicated to empowering DC immigrants and providing resources, opportunities, and support to help them grow and achieve their goals.

This role is a full-time (40 hours), salaried, permanent, hybrid (in-person/remote), position. The expected salary range for this position is $54,000 - $62,000 per year. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Client Support:

  • Conduct intake interviews with low-income immigrant community members to assess their strengths, needs, and eligibility for relevant benefits and services.
  • Provide assistance to connect clients with community resources to meet their needs, including: public benefits, food, housing/rental assistance, employment resources, health care and mental health services, education programs, tax and financial services, immigration legal services, and emergency relief grants.
  • In partnership with partner attorneys:
    • Schedule clients for free legal consultations
    • Advocate with clients regarding immigration processes at partner organizations
  • Organize recurring Know Your RIghts workshops facilitated by partner attorneys
  • Develop referral relationships with external service providers; regularly research and update the list of community resources to facilitate referrals.
  • Assist clients with completing applications or other paperwork required to access services. Follow up as needed to ensure receipt of services.
  • When needed, accompany clients to appointments and collaborate with external parties to provide client with requested services and advocate for client as needed.
  • Coach clients to develop self-advocacy skills, including guiding them to navigate systems and independently access the services and benefits they need.
  • Provide all information and services in a manner that is strengths-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and ensures accessibility for individuals with limited literacy.
  • Other duties as assigned based on program and organizational needs.


Organizational Involvement:
  • In collaboration with other MLOV staff, on occasion, help organize workshops on topics pertinent to DC immigrant communities, for example: public benefit programs, immigration law, education programs, etc.
  • Participate in program meetings, staff development activities, and case conferences;
  • On occasion, provide support for other MLOV programs, including participating in community outreach efforts and organization-wide community events;


Administrative:
  • Draft reports as required; compile and report statistics as needed.
  • Enter all case information into electronic databases on a timely basis, including intake information, case notes, and outcomes. Maintain client files with supporting documents.


An ideal candidate characteristics:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, social sciences, or other related field. Master's Degree and/or Social Work Licensure is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required. Proficiency in Amharic, French, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Thai, or Korean is a plus;
  • At least two years experience providing access services and/or other relevant services to low-income immigrant community members, preferably in a non-profit setting;
  • Experience working on immigration legal service provision is a plus;
  • Knowledge of public benefits and resources available to immigrants in DC;
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet program objectives, as well as working both independently and on a team to problem-solve and exercise sound judgment towards client safety and wellbeing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication;
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills, with ability to work independently;
  • Positive and welcoming attitude, with ability to effectively engage diverse ethnic populations;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite;
  • Ability to work on-site in DC, with availability to work occasional evenings and weekends;


Required candidate characteristics:
  • Possesses or willing to undergo the following background checks and certifications:
    • Current check from DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) Child Protection Registry (CPR)
    • Current check from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
    • Current check from Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Criminal Background Check, and
    • Current check from National Sex Offender Registry (NSO).
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
