About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Computer Operator to join our dynamic team in Ashburn, Virginia. This role is pivotal in managing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the seamless functioning of our computer systems. The successful candidate will lead a team of Computer Operations staff, ensuring all scheduled and unscheduled tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily activities/assignments of Computer Operations staff, ensuring work performance is up to standards.
- Train, motivate, and guide assigned staff. Review and approve their work, and provide management with input on staff performance.
- Manage daily operations to resolve problems, handle change management issues, and provide guidance to lower-level Operators.
- Operate and monitor computer systems and related equipment, ensuring all batch cycles are completed on time.
- Identify, monitor, and diagnose system problems, initiating corrective action where possible.
- Compile and maintain reports on computer operations, review equipment logs, and recommend quality improvements.
- Collaborate with IT groups to ensure service objectives are met and provide a smooth transition of work to succeeding shifts.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in the operation and support of a variety of computer systems.
- Proficiency in maintaining tape libraries, monitoring computing platforms, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with console systems operation.
- Effective analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge in Mainframe, ServiceNow (SNOW), Splunk, JES2/MVS, TIVOLI or scheduling packages, SYSVIEW/OMEGAMON, basic JCL, SDSF, JHS, SYSLOG, printer commands.
- Experience in Storage Administration, Windows, Linux, and networking is preferred.
Schedule:
- Full-Time Position: 40 hours per week.
- Shift: 5:45am 5:45pm, rotating schedule of 7 days on, 4 days off, then 4 days on, 7 days off.
Work Environment:
This role is set in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment which may require action and response 24x7 to support the technical business needs of our customers.
