**Summary**

**DOWL** is looking for a motivated and highly organized **Transportation CAD Manager** who possesses the ability to lead a dynamic team in the delivery of high-profile public projects. The successful candidate will be an experienced CAD professional who can coordinate multiple concurrent projects and manage a well-balanced team of skilled drafters. This is an immediate full-time opportunity in our **Lake Oswego** office. In this role you will be responsible for:

* Overseeing plan production for impactful transportation projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The successful candidate will have advanced levels of CAD proficiency using Civil 3D and Microstation, as well as have experience delivering ODOT projects, ability to shift quickly between CAD standards for different clients and help the team maximize the efficiency afforded by state-of-the-art CAD software.

The manager is responsible for managing the production of all CAD deliverables and ensuring that the CAD group is properly resourced and adequately skilled to meet the drafting needs of the Practice Area. As the manager of the CAD department, this position will report to a Sub-Practice Area Leader within the Practice Area. The position is expected to be highly-utilized, performing CAD work on billable projects for the majority of their work time.

The manager is expected to exercise strong leadership, coordination, organization, and technical skills and will be responsible for ensuring that the CAD group consistently produces high quality, efficient, and on-time deliverables. A successful manager will work well with others, serve as a liaison between the CAD group and DOWLs technical design staff, and coach and mentor CAD staff.

**Requirements/Minimum Qualifications**

Education and/or Experience:

This position requires the candidate to have an Associates (2-year) degree in computer-aided drafting, or a related field. A bachelors degree in civil engineering, management, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of professional drafting experience is required. A minimum of 2 years experience managing a CAD team or department is preferred.

**Required:**

* Advanced level CAD proficiency using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and/or Microstation

* Ability to quickly learn new CAD platforms to advanced level proficiency

* Accurately interpret markups and efficiently incorporate them into drawings

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Strong leadership and coaching skills

* Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, and to successfully deliver complete and accurate projects.

* Demonstrated ability to manage and instruct others, deal with sensitive personnel issues and provide technical review of work products.

* Ability to clearly teach and explain drafting skills, standards and techniques to less senior members of the group

**Mathematical Skills**

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical analysis, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

**Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

* Accountable for working collaboratively with project teams to ensure that design deliverables are properly resourced and completed in compliance with project scope, schedule and budget.

* Responsible for ensuring proper staffing levels of the CAD department and for growing and maintaining a balanced staff that is able to meet the technical needs of DOWL projects

* Accountable for the department complying with quality control procedures and producing high quality plans and other project deliverables

* Must be able to use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project software.
