Job responsibilities / requirements:

Install, service, and maintain impressed current cathodic protection and marine growth prevention systems on offshore oil rigs, cargo ships, tankers, tugboats, cruise ships, and government vessels.

Applicant must:

- Have an interest in and strong understanding of basic electricity and electronics

- Possesses mechanical skills

- Exhibit the ability to use and understand "industry standard" instruments and testing techniques

- Be able to work independently

- Exhibit the ability to recognize and perform corrective measures in the field

- Communicate verbally with the customer, vessel crew, and co-workers regarding technical issues and generate basic written reports

Shipboard experience is required. Work entails troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing control equipment onboard ships. Technicians also supervise and, at times, assist shipyard personnel during the installation or replacement of hull components (anodes and reference cells) while ships are in drydock. There will also be one-day troubleshooting jobs where the technician visits a vessel at pier side or at the terminal to perform service or system checks. Most work is done in USA shipyards or terminals located in the Gulf region (Houston-based.) This position is being filled to address work in the Gulf Region, but you can be called to any job in the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean. When not in the field, the candidate will work from home or travel to the headquarters in Hoboken, NJ, when needed.

During the ship or rig's drydocking period, the typical job lasts 3 to 5 days. The technician usually stays in a hotel, reports to the job early in the morning, and, depending on the yard's schedule, works an 8 to10-hour day. The technician's home base should be anywhere in the greater Houston area.

$70 - $80K $150 per weekday for every day working away from home that is billable to customer.

Service day compensation: The company pays the technician $150 per weekday for daily work away from home, which is billable to the customer. This increases to $200 daily for weekends, holidays, and offshore days, in addition to the base salary.

Commission on parts installed: The company pays the technician $25 to $250 per part, depending on the degree of difficulty of the part. A detailed list will be provided at a later date. This is in addition to the base salary.

Christmas bonus: $1500 in the first year of employment.

All travel and living expenses while on assignment are fully reimbursable.

Tools and equipment: The company will provide all tools/equipment/training necessary to perform any work required.

Two weeks paid vacation per year, three weeks after five years of employment.

Ten paid holidays per year.

Paid sick / personal time: 5 combined days per year.

401(k): available if desired.

Health insurance is offered if required.

Opportunities are unlimited. Based on newly increased commission rates and actual jobs, these technicians earned between $20K - $25K in addition to their base salary and bonuses.
