They are currently looking to expand their legal team and add a Trial Attorney to handle the defense of complex cases under the state administrative process regarding the Workers Compensation matters. The position would be under limited direction of the managing attorney and would perform the duties of legal counsel in the defense and representation of the company in a variety of courts and other related appearances. This position offers a competitive salary of $130,000-$160,000, no billable hour requirements, a hybrid working schedule, and the opportunity to work with a company that genuinely cares about its clients and employees.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Defend complex, trial level Workers Compensation cases
  • Take depositions, analyze testimonies, and prepare and file related reports
  • Represent the company at hearings and conferences
  • Research and prepare trial level pleadings
  • Provide counsel to the claims department regarding case handling strategies and tactics
  • Perform effective legal research for clients through the appellate procedures
  • Assist in training new trial attorneys when necessary
  • Maintain a professional demeanor
  • Perform other, ad hoc legal duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited Law School
  • Be a member, and in good standing, with the California State Bar
  • 4+ years of experience as a Trial Attorney in the defense of Workers Compensation claims
  • The ability to effectively and persuasively communicate in precise, persuasive, and professional manner
  • Experience training groups in the intricacies of the legal practices and procedures regarding Workers Compensation defense
  • The ability to lift relevant legal documents, up to a weight of 15lbs
  • Must have a valid Driver s License and the ability to travel to in person appearances in California as requested/required
