1. Summary of Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the install, connect, test, and maintenance of electrical systems for a variety of purposes to include electronic controls for machines.


2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sees that the building has adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation and that it is properly cleaned and in good working condition.

Makes repairs and inspections of numerous equipment.

Operates machinery and equipment.

Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes to include install and maintain the electronic controls for machines.

Work with blueprints when installing electrical systems. Able to identify blueprints that indicate the locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, and other equipment.

Must be able to follow the National Electric Code and comply with State and local building codes when installing or repairing systems.

Regardless of the type of wire used, must be able to connect wire to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Join the wires in boxes with various specially designed connectors. Finish the wiring, use testing equipment, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to check the circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility and safety of components.

Must be able to connect motors to electrical power and install electronic controls for industrial equipment. May repair motors, transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine tools and industrial robots.

Must be able to identify preventive maintenance. Periodically inspect equipment, and locate and correct problems before breakdowns occur. Understanding of PCL s and programmable drives, etc...

Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. When needed, install new electrical equipment. When breakdowns occur, must make the necessary repairs as quickly as possible in order to minimize inconvenience. May replace items such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, or wire.

When working with complex electronic devices, they may work with engineers, engineering technicians, or industrial machinery installation, repair, and maintenance workers. May use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, and hacksaws. Also use power tools and testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, amp meters, and test lamps.
