GENERAL FUNCTION:
Assist with the production of C-SPAN's Washington Journal, the network's daily live morning viewer call-in program, as well as other public affairs programming for the network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Producers in live control room and with the preparation of various program elements, including video clips and graphics.
- Answers, screens and posts viewer calls for Washington Journal and other productions as needed.
- Helps develop and maintain Washington Journal's social media presence.
- Keeps computer database up-to-date.
- Maintains accurate and detailed information on programming for the TV networks.
- Coordinates with colleagues (fellow PAs, Producers, etc.) on status of program elements.
- Edits programming in our Dalet content management system. Coordinates and executes workflow for video and graphics.
- Performs timely and accurate work on program logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, history or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in current events, politics and public affairs.
- Understanding of C-SPAN programming and philosophy.
- Attention to detail a must.
- Strong social media skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and weekends.
