THE ROLE: SANITATION SUPERVISOR (NEW YORK, NY)

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the facility and equipment cleaning and sanitation processes, programs, and documentation. Leading the members of the Sanitation Team, the Sanitation Supervisor ensures all Bakery s processing facilities produce safe foods that meet all regulatory, food safety, and environmental regulations. This role reports to the Commissary General Manager.

What you ll do:

  • Supervises the team that executes facility and equipment cleaning and sanitation and verifies the effectiveness of their work.
  • Provides expertise and leadership in sanitation programs.
  • Implements and develops Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Maintains documentation of cleaning and sanitation activities pursuant to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews internal and external audits, performed at all facilities, and executes corrective action if there are non-compliant observations.
  • Conducts sanitation training for sanitation team members on effective methods and safe handling practices of all cleaning and sanitation chemicals.
  • Participates in the development of sanitation policies and implements them in all facilities.
  • Participates in new equipment design reviews to ensure compliance to food equipment sanitary standards.
  • Maintains and recommends cleaning and sanitation chemicals and supplies to the Commissary General Manager.
  • Develops and implements productivity strategies that effectively lower controllable costs of sanitation labor and operating suppliers wile driving sanitation standard improvements.
  • In collaboration with Production Ops Leadership, ensure both Commissary and Ecommerce areas are prepared for immediate start prior to production crews arrival.
  • Participate, with Food Safety team members, in daily, pre-operational inspections, monthly plant GMP audits, and other inspections as required.
  • Functions as the primary contact with the cleaning and sanitation chemical supplier.
  • Serves as primary contact for Pest Control provider. Ensures that pest control program log-book is accurate and up-to-date. Inspects and evaluates effectiveness of pest control program.
  • Oversees the maintenance of grounds sanitation, which includes cleaning of parking lots, removing outdoor trash, and treating walking surfaces with de-icer as required.

What we re looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible sanitation and cleaning experience in food manufacturing.
  • Experience with sanitation task planning system to manage daily, weekly, monthly plant sanitation plan.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of allergen sanitation and cross contamination prevention.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of proper cleaning processes both manual and mechanical.
  • Working knowledge of a GFSI approved/recognized certification programs such as SQF or BRC.
  • Experience in workplace safety programs and their application.
  • Computer and data input competency. Able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Supervisor Skills: Effective Leadership, Information Analysis, Chemical Safety, Technical Reporting, and Training, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Problem Solving, Decision Making, and Process Improvement.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish: both verbal and written communication preferred.
