The Structural Engineer - Power Delivery has broad technical knowledge and experience with the structural design components of high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects up to 500kV, including steel structure and foundation analysis & design. Leveraging that knowledge and experience, they work in close coordination with Project Managers (PM) and project teams in multiple office locations to review and/or execute the structural engineering and design components of substation projects. The Structural Engineer - Power Delivery may also train, mentor, and guide junior engineers across the practice and help develop and implement best practices to advance our capabilities across this discipline.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Structural Engineer - Power Delivery are to conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural and civil engineering projects related substation design.

Self-starter with demonstrated ability to perform structural and civil engineering calculations with minimal supervision.Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard engineering codes, techniques, and procedures.Participate and lead civil structures condition assessments and demonstrated report writing ability.Analyze available project information, formulate work processes and execute work within schedules and budgets.Work independently on projects or with teams on larger projects.Interface with internal and external clients.A mix of project management as related to technical work assignments, field work and some overnight travel will be required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university.Professional engineer licensure.Minimum 5 years of civil-structural experience related to the power industryInterest in performing all aspects of civil engineering including technical calculations, performing field inspections, technical writing, and project management is a plus.AutoCAD or Microstation experience.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.Computer knowledge of structural analysis programs (STRUDL, RISA, REVIT Structural, RAM Structural System; Enercalc, LPILE, MFAD)) and Microsoft Office is a plus.
