The US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) C5ISR Center serves to research, develop, and evaluate trusted communications and networking technologies to transition operationally relevant solutions to the war fighter through employment of a dedicated and superior workforce, world class facilities and global partnerships. We are seeking an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist to support our Readiness Engineering Portfolio, which organizes and optimizes the life-cycle engineering/sustainment functions by combining field system sustainment with current operations in quick reaction, urgent operational needs and direct field support mission areas into the same portfolio of responsibility.


Responsibilities:


  • Will serve as an engineer/scientist providing reimbursable support to the PEO Soldier, Soldier Maneuver Sensors, Ground Soldier Systems and Soldier Precision Targeting Devices Quality and Test Directorate to provide Reliability/Quality Engineering and Test Management support for electro-optical sensors, including both passive and active sensors operating in the frequency band from infrared through ultraviolet, and laser pointers/range finders and displays to ensure reliable and high quality systems are delivered to the Soldiers in the field that meet operational performance requirements.
  • Utilizes widely accepted management, reliability & quality engineering/scientific techniques to analyze and evaluate; performs test management to accommodate effective research/laboratory testing and evaluation; develops effective test & quality assurance programs
  • Utilizes engineering management principles to assure the integrity of procured EO/IR systems and test equipment to achieve project goals within cost and schedule.
  • Plans technical and administrative efforts of a diverse group of engineers and technicians to execute system engineering, system quality and reliability engineering management, and sensor system manufacturing.
  • Works with EO/IR system contractors to improve their system, processes, and statistical process controls and other metrics, as well as ensure their adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in a STEM (ABET accredited) program, or a closely related discipline
  • Position requires expertise and knowledge of electro-optic, optical, and infrared sensors, and electro-optical materials, as well as knowledge in one or more of the following areas of infrared sensors and focal plane arrays; lasers and laser receivers; imaging and non-imaging optics; digital and analog electronics applied to electro-optical circuits or processors; laboratory and field testing and experimental methods.
  • Experience leading systems engineering activities or development to facilitate the procurement of products, goods and/or services needed to meet program/project requirements.
  • Ability to carry out project management duties for defense acquisition programs and efforts.
  • Experience providing lifecycle systems engineering support to the acquisition process including requirements decomposition, technical planning, technical analyses, risk management, decision support, and acquisition milestones.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
